General Notes:

Time: 2h and 30'

Description:

The canalone Belasa is a very fun alternative to climb to the summit of the Moregallo, although classified with a difficulty EE, some points with chain require a minimum knowledge in climbing and for the less experienced can be tackled with the help of harness and ferrata sets.

The path to reach the start of the canal takes place from Valmadrera, we will follow the path number 6 to the Fonte di Sambrosera, you can see the initial path at our Link

Once arrived at the fonte di Sambrosera and after resting and refreshing we could continue our path following the sign for the Canalone Belasa located about 5 meters before the source

Initially the path goes up along a fairly small path surrounded by vegetation that goes up some landslide slopes;the path is always well signposted with red dots placed on trees or rocks.

The view is already beautiful to say the least with the continuous spires and ridges of the Moregallo;we will follow this path for about 10' until we meet the first section equipped quite short that does not present major difficulties,in fact the rock is very jagged and finding supports for hands and feet is extremely simple.

The peculiarity of this gully is the fact that it is not always continuous especially for the equipped sections but there may be some sections without chains that may be more complicated than some with chains and sections where the gully becomes a fairly comfortable path where you can rest.

Once finished the first stretch of chains, the path will turn to the right going into the real gully, initially we will find a path quite simple to follow and in some places where we should pass some rocky conformations without chains we should help ourselves with the hands and pay attention to where to rest the feet,in fact sometimes the rock is quite smooth and without cracks where to insert hands and feet, however always remaining free of dangers and quite fun.

This stretch without chains is long enough about 30', sometimes towards its end the trail signs disappear however we should not be afraid, the path to follow is always the same and goes up in the middle of this rocky channel that we are going up;although quite closed the views of Valmadrera,Civate, Lake Annone are always extremely beautiful.

Towards the end of the route we will again find a chained section essential for our ascent,in fact the rock is extremely smooth and without supports, and the chain is absolutely essential.

Just at this moment we will find the only exposed stretch, the path from the right side of the channel will first climb along a rocky boulder without chains and then find above this a series of chains that will allow us to climb towards the end of the channel.

After this last series of chains, the landscape opens and the gully is almost finished,we will face a last stretch of canal that does not present difficulties until we meet a sign with signs for Canalone Belasa, which will make us turn left,we will follow the path that in a few meters will meet the path coming from Pianezzo.

Once on the path that goes towards Pianezzo we will turn right face a few meters of path and immediately turn left following the path that will lead to the summit of Moregallo.

belasa15

The last meters to reach the summit have a concatenated stretch that should not be underestimated, especially the last piece before reaching the top, which especially for those coming from the Sev refuge and who do not have a little strength in their arms could be extremely complicated.

belasa16

Finally we reach the summit where we can rest along the beautiful meadows
